Lee’s Landing Announcement

The Home Trust is proud to announce that we have renamed our Argyle Affordable Housing Project in honor of Lee Sturdivant. Lee was one of the Home Trust founders and was a tremendous torch carrier for the cause of affordable housing on San Juan Island.

Lois “Lee” Stegall Sturdivant (December 4, 1931 – November 26, 2025) studied journalism in Southern California, wrote for local papers and started a successful beachwear manufacturing company, learning to sail in her free time. The family purchased a sailboat to explore the South Pacific.

Of course, everyone who comes to San Juan Island “lands” here but fittingly, Lee and her husband Tal Sturdivant (1925-2021) literally landed in Friday Harbor for the first time, sight-unseen, in 1979 and fell in love with the island and the people they met. Lee’s life was an adventure – whether sailing the seas, designing dresses for Saks Fifth Avenue, propagating herbs, or starting the San Juan Community Home Trust. May her memory and her values live on at Lee’s Landing!

Lee’s Landing Update
